Brother of the Week

Here are Brothers of the Week. Brothers here have been prominently chosen because of excelling in the aspect in what the fraternity emphasizes on the 13th word; brotherhood.

Because of summer session, AJ Nubla has been chosen as brother of the week for the summer.  As rush chairman, he has one of the hardest jobs in the fraternity, planning and coordinating events, and handling all rushees.

July

This weeks Brother of the Week award goes to Rami Kandela for setting up Orchid Ball 2010 for the fraternity in Las Vegas. We had 30 suite rooms in the Luxor, Penthouse at the Palms, and grandeur dinner ball. Heres the rundown on Rami Kandela and his accomplishments and goals.

DSCN2734

So tell us about any accomplishments that you have set forth.
Well, ive been in this fraternity a while now and ive done and helped do alot of big things. I helped to bring in the biggest pledge class our chapter has ever seen. Along with Soli, Griff, and Ronnie, we helped make rush a foundation of our brotherhood.

So how many lil brothers and lil sisters do you have?
Donar and Jen Le, Narek, Hunt, Tariq, Dahill. So i guess thats 4 1/2 and a lil sis. I got a pretty sick fam, everyone brings their a different personality.

Do you currently have a job?
Brown Bag Party, I work for an online adult novelty store with Donald. We work for a Sigma Pi Alumni. It is really laidback and gives you a look into the business world and how to run a business.

May 3rd

This weeks spotlight goes to Neil Joshi for setting up BLACKOUT 2010. This brother picked the venue and organized the event very well and it turned out to be a night to remember.

neil

So tell us about any accomplishments that you have set forth

I want to make sure that our bros are the definition of gentleman, who love not only to rage hard but to also study hard. If there is any greek award that I want our chapter to win it is the scholarship award. And, I want one of our bros to go up and accept the award wearing one of our notorious "sorry we party" tanks. This chapter is top house and anyone reading this, best believe it.

So how many lil bros do you have? (if not tell us about your big bro)
I currently have no lil bro's, however I have the sickest big bro. He is one of the main reasons why I joined Sigma Pi Fall 2009. He is the president and has worked hard to make this fraternity what it is now. LORD LIFE.

Taylor Temple- If we do find any island girls, he would be my wingman.
Donald Le- He would continuously take pictures and still find a way to update the website so bros can go on and figure out where we are.
Ammar Khan- Bodyguard.
Erik Tatos- He would calm the situation.

2. Better GPA
3. Not rushing a next Shaun Soliman
4. Mandatory Gym Hours

Any last words?
LORD.

April 19th

This weeks brother of the week is Ardy Parto. He was recognized for being really active in everything Sigma Pi and hais fire is burning really bright for it. Ardy is on the path to success, he sports high grades, high standards, and is a well-rounded individual. You may find him on campus scootering from class to class but now heres the scoop on Ardy Parto.

ardy

So tell us about any accomplishments that you have set forth
I've accomplished a lot of things in my life its hard to just narrow them
down. I've been in a manpagent, I've won wrestling championships, I've
made a one hit wonder, I've gotten a 4.0 GPA, I've saved a life, I've won
fights, I've dated a girl once, I've made my parents proud, I've gotten
away with kissing girls on the cheek without them getting mad at me or
slapping me, I've made people laugh, I've gave people compliments, I've
joined honors societies, I've taken off my shirt in a baseball game on
camera, I've been in the newspaper, I've won chess games, I've turned 21,
I've survived bootcamp, I've developed sex appeal, I've developed
friendships with homeless people, I've gotten into an internship at a
hospital, I've crashed parties, I've snuck into concerts, I've had a girl
name their teddy bear after me in middle school, I've finally figured out
that idolizing Ricky Martin despite his homosexuality doesn't make me gay,
I've figured out how to make my hair look perfect, I'm a genetic
masterpiece, I've been tan before and am confident I will be tan again one
day, I've choked out Jon Shubin at the brotherhood retreat, I've benched
pressed 225 pounds 12 times as a warm up, I've intimidated men, I've
intimidated women, I've managed to be that bad boy that can make your
heart melt, I'm better looking than shaun soliman even tho pretty much
everybody has accomplished that...its fun to rub it in his face, I've
manipulated people into thinking I'm gifted...I can really go on forever
but I'm over writing about how awesome I am because I'm starting to make
people jealous and I don't want you people that are reading this to feel
like your not accomplished. I want you encourage you to become more like
me so that you too can live the dream I wake up to everyday.
So how many lil bros do you have?
Just one Austin Crittendon. He is goodlooking, has respectable hollywood
fashion sense, he knows how to rage with style, he is sociable, and is
more intelligent than most people I have met. Girls would be too lucky to
receive him as a companion. Just saying. He has an interest in asian
girls...so keep that in mind UCI.

What is something an average person would not know about Ardy Parto?
I think the average person wouldn't know that I actually got my shit
together haha.

What do you think about Shaun Soliman?
I think this question should be taken off because Shaun loves the
attention and we are just fueling the fire of an overly obnoxious and
annoying being.

If you were stuck on an island and had to pick 5 Sigma Pi's, who would you
choose?

Taylor Lapsys because he could probably figure out some sort of network
connection to a pilot to get us off the island first class.
Ronnie Arenas because he's fun to talk to and can calm us down when shit
hits the fan
Ryan Beach so that we can sing songs and have some sort of entertainment
Van Vaziri because he can tell us stories to keep me entertained
Shaun Soliman because if the food supply is completely depleted, I don't
think any of us would feel bad for roasting him for a few more meals.

Who do you think is the most inspirational person in the fraternity?

All the young guys in our fraternity Alpha Theta and Alpha Iota are
inspirational to me because they are the guys with the fire that is making
our fraternity the best fraternity on campus. Where we are now is already
superb but these guys humble me because getting to know them made me
realize our potential for greatness is incredible and we really have no
choice but to fly high.

What is your favorite thing about Sigma Pi?
Everyone knows that we have the best social events and have the most fun
on campus. But my favorite thing about Sigma Pi is the fact that although
we have the most fun on campus, we still have so many members that are
doing well in school, have the potential to be super successful in life,
and alumni that are already doing extremely well after graduation. My
older cousin for example was a Sigma Pi and he is now a doctor. I love the
idea that we are the fraternity that is having the most fun while still
maintaining to be the most successful where we want to most. Whenever we
truly want to win at something, we do. period.

What is the day in the life of Ardy Parto?

Well I wake up, look in the mirror, remind myself how blessed I am
physically, I brush my teeth, rub my hair into place for that sick faux,
put on my v-neck, put on my designer jeans, put on my sperry top siders,
strap on my letters so people know who's boss, drive my blacked out bmw to
mesa, hop on my scooter and roll to class like a boss, pay close attention
to the teacher yet never take notes cause its online (I only carry my
backpack so i can hold paper in a folder and my letters when it gets hot),
go to gateway to get some work done and out of the way so I can rage
later, go to the gym to get that pump, on my way home call Bridget and see what shes up to, go home shower and get ready, by the time i'm done dinner is ready I eat my meal, call my boys in Newport who are ready to rage, go
rage, sleep on one of my bros couches or find a ride back home, wake up.
Pretty simple and effective routine. Unfortunately it leaves me barely any
time to T for the essential G.T.L but luckily I live with my parents still so
the L is out of the way and the G is dealt with. The T is somewhat natural
but I promise I will continue to pursue the perfect color I just need
everybodies patients.

What makes a fraternity great?

Solid rush, solid social events, social development in the character of then men within it, my presence, the brotherhood itself, and donating your resources to the rest of the fraternity so that everybody benefits from you, and receiving resources from others in return to better yourself. This is in the form of encouragement, motivation, advice, helping brothers struggling with classes, role modeling, mentoring, and emotional support, especially in the duration of the tough times. Every member has a lot to offer and thus we have the blessing to receive alot from the brothers on an individual and tailor-made basis. This is what makes a fraternity great.

If you were on a gameshow what would you be on?

Anything that has the contestants on the game show compete to receive me
as their reward...something like the bachelor.

What is your favorite beverage?

Water, it keeps me alive.

We hear you play the violin, how long have you been playing?

I played in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I however never really
practiced and was always on the back for concerts. I've even been told to
pretend to play in the back a few times. I was forced to do music in my
elementary and middle school, I always hated it. Never thought learning
violin will come in handy, up until I needed a talent for Mr. Heartthrob.
That was probably the first time I ever actually practiced, and I just
learned how to play the violin by ear specifically for the contest.

So you competed for Alpha Phi's Mr. Hearthrobb, won 2nd place, and was quite
a compelling contestant, what do you think stopped you from winning 1st
place?

Honestly I don't really know! I mean I gave it all I could, I mean
apparently playing Lollipop by Lil Wayne, Badboys For Life By P Diddy,
Titanic, Kiss me through the phone, and fancy fiddles on the violin with
glitter all over my body and lady gaga type mask just wasn't enough to
beat the eventual winner who created a light show on stage. I mean I
thought I sealed the victory with wearing booty shorts, fairy wings, and
throwing glitter out of my nuts would seal the victory. But I mean Sigma
Pi did win the first Heartthrob competition so I can see why the judges
didn't want to see a repeat. I'm seriously considering making myself
letters that say Alpha Phi's Mr. HeartRob on the back. Just kidding. But
seriously.

What do you want to accomplish in the next couple of years?

I want to get accepted either get accepted to medical school or grad

school for Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Any last words?

Sorry I Ardy.

1. More parties
If you were on a gameshow what would you be on?
Fear Factor (if thats still a show)
What makes a fraternity great?
BROTHERHOOD.
What is the day in the life of Neil Joshi?
Wake up, Look in the mirror, admire myself, reply to all the txt messages I missed while sleeping, try to go to class, Ace any test or quiz I had that day, convince Andy Hurst he's actually gay, Gym, No need for a tan (Im already sexy tan enough), Make my roommate do my laundry, head to newps to rage, Pass out.
What is your favorite thing about Sigma Pi?
Sorry We Party THE HARDEST
Who do you think is the most inspirational person in the fraternity?
Me.
If you were stuck on an island and had to pick 5 Sigma Pi's, who would you
choose?
Sean Lobb- He always tries to make the best out of any situation.
What do you think about Shaun Soliman?
Douchebag.
What is something an average person would not know about Neil Joshi?
I played a prince on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
What do you think about Shaun Soliman?
One word. RE-TARD.

If you were stuck on an island and had to pick 5 Sigma Pi's, who would you
choose?
Ronnie Arenas- he can do it all, build me a fort out of some shrubbery, make a smoke signal, and kill a deer for dinner

Zach Noyer- we'd just talk about how great of a situation this actually is because we just got a free vacation to a tropical island where we don't have to do anything all day but sip coconut juice, which ronnie will provide.

Donald Le- because he will figure out that he actually has a handle (among other related things) in his backpack which he's been saving for just this occasion

Gaurav Nihalani- because he's lived on an island before and he might be able to get me a deal from the local indian jewelry store by dropping his last name: Nihalani

Jon Shubin- He'll swim to the next nearest island for help.

Who do you think is the most inspirational person in the fraternity?

Ian Worden, im not gonna blow steam up his ass, but he does work, enough said

What is your favorite thing about Sigma Pi?
It brings people together that typically would have never interacted, and it does so by making them more than just acquaintances, but brothers.

What is the day in the life of Rami Kandela?
Wake up in the morning, take a piss and wash my hands, take a knee and thank the man, then get back to the money. Tryna make it big in the world, the only way i know how, without a lot of work

What makes a fraternity great?
Fraternities are great because they give people the opportunity to be a part of a community which they would normally have been a part of. It allows those people to compete in with each other in every facet of their lives. For example, within the fraternity brothers are constantly competing to be the most fit. This makes individual members feel as though they have to go to the gym to compete with their brothers. Along with the competition within, which helps make individuals better, there is the obvious competition between fraternities themselves. Competition forces you to be constantly innovative and on top of your game.

What would you wish to be accomplished by the fraternity after you leave?

I hope when i come back to visit I will see that sigma pi has a fraternity house and is without a doubt the best house on campus because of their venue parties, sorority exchanges, philanthropic and campus wide events, and the individuals themselves.

So Orchid Ball 2010 was what you helped organized... tell us about the ins and outs of the whole thing...was it worth the hard work and stress making a successful event happen?

yes, Oball 2010 was my child. The problem is that I am the self-proclaimed Mr. Las Vegas. When it was time to start planning Oball, it was on me to make this the best time ever because I know Las Vegas so well and because it was my senior Oball trip. I was preoccupied with making better than last year and the best possible trip. Unfortunately in vegas, everything doesnt necessarily go your way and this was no exception to the rule. Luckily, all in all everything worked out and everyone that wasnt me, it sounds like everyone had a great time.

Where do you see yourself after college?

After college I see myself ruling the world. And if I dont succeed at that I'll try law school and see if that works. If not, anything can happen. Can u say, Fortune 500?

Any last words?
